Puppy and Teens Classes

Dog Training

Teen Classes

Are you serious about reconnecting with your dog?

Our teens program is designed to get you back on the same page — and strengthen your relationship in the process. We focus on cooperation and connection, using fun-filled activities and interactive exercises. Our teens training program is all about bringing your teen and your family back together so you can work as a team.

Teenagers need boundaries, but they also need choice. They are harder to engage than puppies - so finding fun ways of working with them is crucial. We disguise essential training, so much so that your dog won’t even realise they’re learning!

We’ve teamed up with Kimbra from Working with Woofers to bring you the ultimate 4-week training course for Teens aged 5-18 months. Please contact us if your dogs age is outside this guide as we may still be able to help!

Training is held at Happy Little Howlers and will have a huge emphasise on reconnecting with your unruly teenager!

What your dog will learn

Reviewing the Basics: Foundational skills are a must to springboard into the more advanced things we will cover in this course. If your teenager is missing some of the basics, we will catch them up and fill in the gaps.

Recall: Your adolescent dog will learn an Emergency Recall and an Emergency Stop. Both are critical at this stage in their life when impulse control is low. We will cover other recalls that motivate them to return as well, as you need more than one option with a teenager!

Loose Leash Walking: Is your teenager still pulling on the leash? Let’s look at why, so we can gradually turn this around, have them reconnect with you, and learn how to pass others calmly on a loose leash.

Jumping & Attention Seeking: Are they still jumping or perhaps demand barking? Let’s look at why, so we can help them make better choices – together.

To look at things calmly: Your teenager will learn to look at things calmly, and then look back at you. This leads into teaching them not to chase other animals, or skateboards, bikes, etc – Yes it’s possible!

Self-Control: Let’s transform their frustration into focus. This takes time, patience and consistency, but is definitely achievable.
